NO ACTION FROM BC LIBERAL GOVERNMENT ON QUICK WINS SCANDAL, SAYS OFFICIAL OPPOSITION

News Releast - March 21, 2013

VICTORIA –A week after the release of the report into the BC Liberal Government’s quick wins scandal, British Columbians are asking if any of John Dyble’s six recommendations have been acted on.

“The premier promised that she would take quick action on Mr. Dyble’s report, but has since gone back to campaigning and ignoring that this scandal ever happened,” said Opposition house leader John Horgan.

“The quick wins scandal showed that the BC Liberal government was bent on using government resources for the BC Liberal Party's political gain.

Official Opposition Demands Independent Investigation into BC Liberal Government Scandal

For Immediate Release - March 14, 2013

VICTORIA –The Official Opposition is calling for an immediate, broader independent investigation to truly get to the bottom of the BC Liberal government’s “quick win” scandal after an internal report released Thursday raised more questions than answers.

“The investigation out of the premier’s office was substantive in that it found very significant and serious violations occurred,” said Opposition house leader John Horgan.

BC Hydro Documents Show Massive Surplus of Expensive Power

News Release - February 5, 2013

VICTORIA –BC Hydro documents released last week show a massive surplus of power that is costing the Crown Corporation hundreds of millions of dollars every year, say the Official Opposition.

“BC Hydro will lose nearly $300 million this year alone thanks to BC Liberal government policies that have resulted in high priced long-term contracts for power we didn’t need,” said Official Opposition energy critic John Horgan.

“The BC Liberal government tried to bury this information every time it looked like it might be uncovered.

The BC Liberal government needs to clarify their muddled position on smart meter installations

News Release – January 29, 2013

VICTORIA –The BC Liberal government must clarify their muddled position on smart meter installations and tell British Columbians just what options they have when it comes to the smart meter program, say the Official Opposition.

“One week customers are receiving threatening letters saying the meters will be installed no matter what. The next week the energy minister pens an opinion piece saying BC Hydro won’t install a new meter without the homeowner’s consent,” said Opposition energy critic John Horgan. “Which is it? You can’t have it both ways.”
